From WP to Blogger

Well let's see. I'm moving selected (keeper) stuff off of my existing Wordpress hosted account platform(s) to Blogger. I fell off of my internal iDailyDiary journaling as of late, and am considering moving all those entries onto this Blogger blog.

Let me think about this. The Wordpress hosted blogs will go away anyway since I'm going to eventually relinquish ownership and management to Peaches. So Blogger is my target "free" and not attached to me on the backside/server side destination. Moving iDD journaling to this same Blogger blog transitions my now spotty journaling off of the local PC to the web, allowing email posts (maybe that'll spark me to post more since I don't have to always sit in front of my computer in my home office to make an entry?).

Downsides?

  • I don't control the backside to manage my data, files, blog.  It used to matter so much more before, but does it really now? Just keep the PII and the hush hush private stuff stuff off of the Blogger blog. I think I'll create another blog, one not so obviously related to this one, for the private entries...
  • Speaking of private stuff, on my Wordpress install I installed plugins that I use to restrict viewing/reading by member level and restrict very specific parts of posts and pages without necessarily restricting the entire post/page. That feature was very versatile. Blogger is nowhere as flexible and accommodating.
  • When I pass, the blog will be orphaned on Blogger.  The biggest reason why I'm cleaning up and deleting the WP installed blog(s) on my DH account is to avoid orphaning them when I pass. But it's more than just the blogs being orphaned, it's the DH hosted account as a whole, which Peachie wants to take over so as to continue on the sarusal.com domain. The Blogger blog will be viewable by reader invite anyway so if it gets orphaned it won't be hanging out there on the public web.
Downsides are manini or non-issues.... let's do this.
